Pex installation kit

We carry a complete selection of accessories and parts for installation of PEX tubing and copper pipe in hydronic, radiant heating and plumbing applications.

Show more. PEX plastic bend supports with ear and metal bend supports for plumbing and in-slab installation of PEX pipe. Outlet boxes for installation of washing machines, gas appliances, icemakers, lavatories and dishwashers. Adjustable metal brackets with and without pipe clamps for securing stub-out elbows or piping to wooden or metal studs.

Heavy-gauge, self-nailing stud plates in various sizes help to protect piping and wires from damage by drywall screws. Adding two shut-off valves a shut-off valve and faucet drain on the return lines is done so that if there is a potential problem with a stopped up heat exchanger or bad pump, it can be diagnosed easily by the owner, without the need for a service call.

This is where you check your gallons per minute flow rate. Here are all of the parts laid out like they need to be assembled. Put Teflon tape on a small pipe with pipe thread fittings as shown. Make sure you wrap the tape the correct way, as shown. Wrap the opposite way from the way it screws on. Screw another pipe wrapped with Teflon tape too onto the shut-off valve, followed by the 'T' and the Pex fitting.

Be sure to orient the 'T' and shut-off valve so that the shut-off valve handle clears the drain. Screw in the faucet-type valve, using Teflon tape, as always.

Now connect the Pex pipe. Simply push the pipe all the way in until it seats. The Pex pipe is shown attached here, and the job is complete! Boiler hookup for baseboard and radiant heat with plate exchanger. Changing or installing a new faucet is a fairly simple home improvement task, even if it does require contorting your body into a pretzel-like shape under the sink temporarily.

If you can avoid needing to be hoisted out from under the cabinet and being put into traction I recommend stretching first this type of project should take less than an hour. If the sink and faucet are old or rusted it may take more time and tools to remove it. I always like to keep a sledgehammer nearby. You know, just in case! Most faucets are attached to the sink by a plastic nut—or a metal one in older models.

There are also faucets that mount with bolts on the top, but more than likely you will need to wedge yourself inside the cabinet under the sink to accomplish this project. To remove an old faucet, shut the water off at the pipes under the sink or at the main shut-off to the house. Then remove the water connections and the nuts securing the faucet to the sink. Before the faucet is attached, there should be a seal between the faucet and the sink. Some faucets come with a plastic or rubber gasket.

If not, you can make a snake from plumbers putty just like you did with Play-doh as a kid , and put it on the sink where the faucet will sit. Attaching the faucet to the sink is pretty easy. Those who prefer to use clamps over crimps might want to consider adding this iCRIMP cinch tool to their tool belt. This clamp cincher works for any size PEX and needs no calibration.

During usage, the iCRIMP holds the jaws in place, while the handles are opened to provide plenty of leverage. For a heavy-duty crimping tool that can tackle most PEX-tubing plumbing projects, choose this kit from Conbraco. The jaws swap out with two hex bolts, which the included wrench also fits. The Conbraco tool provides plenty of leverage for sealing off plumbing joints, good for creating up to pounds of force. All of the components pack up nicely into the plastic carrying case, keeping everything secure and in one place between projects.

One advantage that PEX fittings have over copper piping is that in-wall repairs are much easier and safer, but they can still be challenging to reach and crimp.

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about PEX crimp tools and their corresponding answers. Take a look through this section for any additional information not covered above. It leaches far fewer chemicals and has a higher bursting pressure. The disadvantage is that it can be harder to work with. If the clamp is applied crookedly or unevenly, it will leak.

PEX can run through floor joists, stud walls, or almost anywhere else that would normally hold plumbing according to local code. PEX should not run directly to a water heater, but it can run to a copper riser 18 inches or more in length, coming directly from the water heater.

PEX may be able to last more than years. Disclosure: BobVila. You agree that BobVila.
